I am an integrative counsellor, I combine many different therapeutic tools and models to fit your needs. I utilise the following methods:
This approach allows the client to lead discussion and find their own solutions. The counsellor is alongside providing non-judgmental positive regard and empathy. This therapy is good for those who want to feel in control and gain more self confidence and empowerment.
This type of therapy looks at how the clients past may be influencing present situations. The goal is to gain an increased understanding of how the past has shaped us so far as people. To acknowledge our strengths, talents and abilities but also understand how negative patterns from the past may have an impact on our lives. The knowledge gained can inform new choices.
This therapy looks at the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. By identifying negative thought patterns, we can re-frame our thinking, creating increased happiness and a healthy lifestyle. This therapy is suitable for focusing on specific issues for short term therapy. At present it's very popular for treatment of anxiety.
This therapy focuses on the future rather than the past. It compares how life is at present with how you might wish life to be in the future. Focus is then given to making very small steps towards the desired outcome using strengths and skills but also by learning new strategies; celebrating success and keeping an optimistic view of the future.
"To recognise that 'I am the one who chooses' and 'I am the one who determines the value of an experience for me' is both an invigorating and a frightening realisation"- Carl R. Rogers
